What Issues Matter Most to Uptown Voters?

We hosted award-winning journalist and Uptown native Maria Santana and Alejandro Rincon (El Barrio resident) to discuss the issues most important to Uptown voters. As residents and journalists, they’ve talked with dozens of people about their fears, hopes, and visions of the future of both Uptown and the country.

An Uptown Poll Watcher Gets Banned

As early voting got into full swing we covered a fascinating story about poll watchers—and what happens when they prioritize social media engagement above integrity.

A couple of poll-watchers in the Bronx grew suspicious when they believed workers were mishandling ballots. That’s when we stepped in.

According to the Board of Elections, what they saw wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. It was the poll watchers’ angry and disruptive behavior that wasn’t normal. They were escorted out by police and have been banned from the polls.

No Kings Day Demonstrations

Uptowners took to the streets for the No Kings day of protests. You can relive the day through our live coverage on now saved on YouTube. Here’s part 1, part 2 and part 3 of the day. Maybe you’ll see yourself in the video!

As the day of protest carried on Uptown and across the nation something suspicious happened in the digital space. The No Kings Instagram account was deactivated during the peak of the protests. You can check out that story here, and while it’s cool to have gotten a comment from Meta, I’m almost more proud of my lede: As Protesters Marched, Meta Suspended the Main No Kings IG Account.

We also spoke exclusively with Darializa Avila Chevalier that day. Check it out here:

Additional New York City Election Coverage 🗽

Hell Gate, one of my faves, has a fun and informative profile of the Republican candidate and Trump BFF, Bruce Blakeman. The article delves into many of his positively peculiar attributes: What Bruce Blakeman's Private Militia Clusterfuck Says About How He'd Run New York.

Another of my go-to’s, City and State, has a nice summary of the weekend electioneering activities of the Democratic candidate for Governor Kathy Hochul, who was joined by her now BFF, Zohran Mamdani and a late addition to the deep-blue Bills-fandom politi-crew Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Hochul, AOC and Mamdani walk into a bar, on the last day of early voting.

Gothamist posted a piece on Saturday looking at the campaigns for Attorney General between the Democrat incumbent Letitia James and the Republican candidate Saritha Komatireddy but framed the story less as on the battle between the two on-ballot candidates and more as a battle between James, who is the nemesis of President Donald Trump: Donald Trump looms over New York attorney general’s race.

Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months

That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting — which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.

Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.

Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends — all Keurig®-compatible — and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.

New customers get 15% off their first order — applied automatically, no code needed.

¡Salimos en vivo a las 8 a.m. ET! 🔴

El artículo explora muchos de sus atributos positivamente peculiares: What Bruce Blakeman's Private Militia Clusterfuck Says About How He'd Run New York.
